Luzon Tree of Heaven Silkmoth Philosamia cynthia luzonica Philippines
This is the first time offered by WWB. The moths are quite beautiful and the larvae are coloured quite differently from other races of cynthia.
Being tropical, this race is continuously brooded. There is no diapause period but the cocoon stage can be prolonged at lower temperatures.
There is little information on breeding luzonica and there is scope for learning here. The larvae are easily reared on Privet and are likely to take to other species that cynthia larvae normally take, such as Ailanthus, most Willows and Sallows and Prunus especially Portuguese Laurel.
