Polygonia egea Southern Comma

The first time offered by WWB. This relative of the Comma occurs in southern Europe and Mediterranean area, particularly Italy and Greece. 
The underside is cleverly patterned in rather straight lines, like wood grain. 

Larvae which have some similarities with that of the Red Admiral and Painted Lady, feed on Nettle and Pelitory. They are reported to fee also on Hazel, Currant, Honeysuckle and Elm.

This is a species that is very seldom seen or available.
