The Emerald Tiger Callindra principalis

Offered for the first time!

A close cousin of the Scarlet Tiger Moth dominula, with many characteristics showing in both species. This is a high altitude species from Pakistan. The life cycle is similar to that of dominula. It appears that hibernation is as small but developed larvae, that complete their growth in spring, and produce adults in early summer. In captivity it may be possible to have continuous broods. The caterpillar much resembles dominula, with the lighter markings forming lateral and dorsal bands.

Foodplants include Hawthorn, Sallows, Willows, Raspberry, Mint, Nettle, Dock and other wayside plants.
