Description

Dusky Spurge Hawk Hyles dahlii  Island species from Sicily.

This Hawkmoth occurs only on Mediterranean islands, the Balearics, Sicily, Corsica etc. It is clearly related to the Spurge Hawk but has dusky markings.  The caterpillar is very colourfully spotted and has more prominent markings than the Spurge Hawk. WWB has never listed this species before. It is very hard to obtain.

The larvae feed on Spurges and Rosebay WIllowherb.

An interesting moth for those who have reared most of the Hawkmoths before.
